LATEST PROJECTS

We provide a range of skills in landscape architecture, landscape planning and urban design resulting in a multidisciplinary consultancy fit to deal with even the most challenging of sites.

Waxlow Road, London

The development of the site into an industrial/ warehouse building (Use Classes B2/ B8) including ancillary office space, vehicular access, HGV and car parking, pedestrian / cycle access, sustainable drainage.

Talbot Place Play Area

We worked closely with a local community group to design a natural play area. The design included local materials and the recycling of materials where possible. Timber was sourced from Greenwich Park to act as natural play equipment.

South Bucks Country Park

South Bucks District Council is proposing to transform the former 20ha golf course and driving range into a country park and café hub, to be open to the public all year around providing a wide range of recreational facilities.

We can design creative, inspiring sustainable landscapes

As Landscape Architects we strive to achieve meaningful designs which are true to both the aspirations of the client and the landscape.
At epd, we pride ourselves that sustainability is at the heart of our values. The landscape is a valuable resource that can be a refuge for declining plants and animals, whilst still offering places for people to enjoy. Creative, inspiring design enables sustainable landscapes to become a balancing factor of the interactions between the elements of modern living. This is why we help our clients to create projects that contribute to a wider network of habitat creation with a focus on providing desirable spaces in which we can live, work and play.
The enhancement of a habitat, be it for a specific species or a wide variety, can be incorporated into the design of the natural and built environment to create innovative yet sensitive landscapes. At epd, our aim is to create sustainable landscapes which are enhanced aesthetically, ecologically and socially – future-proofing spaces for all to enjoy.
As a registered practice with the Landscape Institute, epd has a team of landscape architects with a broad range of experience. As we are located across England we are able to work anywhere in the UK. At epd we have designed a number of public open spaces ranging from urban plazas, community greens, memorial gardens, both local and neighbourhood play areas and other informal areas for active and passive recreation.
We have provided inclusive and engaging parks, with play facilities that entertain and challenge all who experience them. From bespoke play structures to natural play elements we hope to inspire children and adults alike. We can facilitate invaluable community consultation, incorporate this into innovative and stimulating designs and oversee construction work on site.
We can help provide advice at a small scale, for example, a domestic garden or can help masterplan larger commercial or residential, urban areas. Our consultation services cover areas of landscape design and management, landscape assessment, contract tendering and administration.
Along with our sister company Glendale we can also provide tree advice and arboricultural services. We are able to provide our clients with inspirational, flexible and sustainable solutions ranging from initial designs to project implementation and maintenance. We offer this in a practical, no-nonsense and cost effective manner closely tied to Glendale Horticulture, Glendale Civic Trees and Parkwood Holdings. We have a broad scope of build and maintain options available to fit your project.
Together we can help design, install and maintain a range of outdoor spaces that create a unique sense of place and harmony, becoming part of the local landscape fabric.

We can assess the impacts of a development on landscape and visual receptors

At epd we are aware of the challenges a project can face to comply with national and local planning regulations. With our extensive technical knowledge and experience we can assess the impacts of a development on landscape and visual receptors and mitigate accordingly to reduce the significance of effects, helping to create beneficial outcomes for all.
If your project requires help with the planning process, we can help with the initial site planning or design, and help produce planning drawings ready to submit as part of a planning application. We can also provide site photography and visualisations/ photomontages to help bring a project to life.
For larger projects if your development requires a Landscape Appraisal to inform your application, demands a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA’s) as part of a more detailed Environmental Statement, or requires a Cultural Heritage Assessment or Heritage Statement we will listen to your needs, liaise with the Local Authority and work towards a successful application.
Our landscape Assessments are carried out in accordance with the Landscape Institute and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment’s Guidelines for Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, 3rd Edition (GLVIA3). We recognise that the public sector is under strain and aim to ensure a smooth planning application process which saves time and money for everyone. We have experience of working with local planning authorities and understand planning policy at local, regional and a national level.
We can also offer all aspects of tree surveys and arboricultural impact assessments within a project through our sister company Glendale.
At epd we have experience of contributing to Townscape Assessments, Capacity Studies and Landscape Character Assessments, and many other appraisals which have helped to shape the future of the landscape.

We are environmentally and socially aware of the implications of complex strategic projects

At epd we aim to connect beyond the red line, to integrate proposed developments in a wholly more sustainable, comprehensive and sympathetic setting. We are culturally, environmentally and socially aware of the implications of complex strategic projects and strive to ensure that the most suitable outcome for all parties is achieved.
We accomplish this by designing with the unique elements presented at a site to inform the core character, coupled with the client’s brief to fuse a landscape-led solution to any site’s myriad of challenges.  As landscape architects we can work with and lead a multi-disciplinary team of specialist consultants to tailor bespoke results for every project.
A crucial part of the design process involves public and local community engagement events to ensure local people are able to help shape the masterplan so the urban landscape works for the wider community. The balance between passive and active areas ensures the success of a scheme.
When involved from an early stage, epd play can contribute an important role in the creation of the development proposals for a whole site. We can help through every phase of a development, from illustrative conceptual design, to Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) along with a detailed planning application for the enabling works zones.
We ensure early recognition and resolution of potential issues that could become costly later in the process. We aim to optimise the environmental benefits arising from the site development and to minimise the construction and operational costs.
