Open Space Strategy

An open space strategy is a comprehensive plan or framework developed by government agencies, municipalities, or organisations to guide the management, preservation, and enhancement of open spaces within a defined area. These areas may include parks, recreational areas, greenbelts, natural reserves, and other undeveloped or publicly accessible lands. The strategy typically outlines goals, objectives, and policies related to land use, conservation, recreation, biodiversity, and community engagement. It often involves stakeholder consultation, data analysis, and spatial planning to identify priorities, opportunities, and challenges in managing open spaces. The open space strategy aims to balance environmental protection, social equity, economic vitality, and public health considerations while promoting the sustainable use and enjoyment of natural and recreational resources within the community.
